Important Note: Collieston itself has no shops. Best to bring supplies with you on Day 1.
There are three local communities, and two larger centres:
Local Communities
Newburgh: Turn left at the main road – 5 minutes drive. One convenience store. One pub. A coffee shop and a café at the golf club. A garage (no petrol).
Ellon: Go straight across at main road – 10 minute drive. Aldi, Tesco and lots of smaller independent shops. Two banks and several money machines. Two petrol stations (one at Tesco). Lots of take aways and several cafes. Four pubs. A Post Office and two chemists.
Cruden Bay: Turn right at main road – 10 minutes drive. One small shop, a chemist, a Post Office, three pubs, a chinese takeaway (off the main road).
Others: Inverurie – A bit further away, but a nice market town. Bigger than Ellon, with a retail park on the outskirts. Or stop at Oldmeldrum on the way to Inverurie. A smaller country town. You can also explore the chain of country villages like Mintlaw, Old Deer, New Deer, Maud. Boddam (on the way to Peterhead) has a unique old harbour and a lighthouse.
Larger Centres
Aberdeen: 15 miles to the south – everything a big city has.
Peterhead: 15 miles to the north. Aldi, Lidl, Asda, Halfords, B&Q, McDonalds, KFC, garages, Gregs, Starbucks. Larger than Ellon, smaller than Aberdeen.
